I had someone from Sony reach out who is running a summer school around plant biology and open science occurring in the Czech Republic. They are interested in the participants learning more about open science generally, and offered 30 minutes for me to do that.
I felt the best use of time would be to bring in 4 - 5 projects from the GOSH community to speak. It doesn’t need to be plant biology specific - any kind of open science project works. Each project would:
- Describe the project
- Describe what’s worked well (for those involved, for those using the tools, for advancing science, etc.)
- Describe what’s been difficult (what you learned, what didn’t work, struggles, etc.)
My goal is to have a range of scales of projects to give the participants a broad sense of how people engage in open science (ie it’s not just huge successes or tiny failures - there’s a lot of in between). I am looking for active projects, with real deployments and user bases. Maybe @hikinghack and @briannaljohns , maybe @Jorodeo ? Ideally we’d have 4 total. Presentation is 5 minutes with questions, and will be over zoom sometime in the end of summer.
Please post or contact me if you’re interested!
