Apparently F1 are thinking about open-source car parts as a way to reduce costs and encourage collaborative working.
While this is not science hardware, the fact that open hardware is being considered for something as high profiles as F1 is already a big win. If F1 thinks “pooling resources” by making the car parts open is a good way to innovate quickly within a budget, it makes it harder for Universities to disagree with the same concept.
