Workshop on low power, wide area network solutions for IoT (Uganda)

The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics invites applications for its funding to attend a workshop on low power, wide area network solutions for the internet of things. This supports participation in the workshop, to be held at Makerere University in Uganda from 17 to 21 February 2020. The workshop will present LPWAN solutions based on open standards that address the requirements of heterogeneity, security and complexity. Focus will also be placed on The Things Network, which is an initiative to build a worldwide open source infrastructure to facilitate a public internet of things. Topics to be addressed include:

•wireless solutions for IoT;

•long range and low power, wide area network protocols;

•prototyping of sensor boards;

•planning and deployment of a LPWAN network;

•collection and visualisation of the data.

Female scientists are encouraged to apply. Priority given to participants from east Africa.

A limited number of grants are available to support the attendance of selected participants.
