We are visiting you during our trip

Dear Team,

Im Franklin, living actually in France.

We are planning a trip around the world and would like to take this opportunity to conduct an international field study on social innovation, the digital transition, and education. We have already begun making arrangements to meet key local stakeholders, and we would love to meet with you as well.

Here is the list of destinations we will be visiting:

  • Portugal: Lisbon, Lagos, Faro

  • Spain: Cádiz, Málaga, Almería, Alicante, Barcelona

  • Italy: Alghero, Olbia, Levanto, Genoa, Pisa, Rome, Naples, Bari

  • Greece: Athens, Delphi

  • Germany: Frankfurt

  • Sweden: Stockholm

  • Norway: Oslo, Tromsø, Bergen

  • Ireland/UK: Dublin, Glasgow, Liverpool, London

  • Brazil: Rio

  • Peru: Lima, La Paz

  • Bolivia: Cusco

  • New Zealand : Auckland

  • Singapore

  • Town to be confirmed: Vietnam, Thailand, South Korea

  • China (Beijing)

  • Japan (Tokyo)

  • and Canada: Toronto, Montreal.

During this journey, we hope to discover high-impact local initiatives and exchange best practices with regional stakeholders.

We would be delighted to connect with you—as well as with key decision-makers, local project leaders, and institutional representatives—during our visit. We also aim to incorporate a “mobile learning school” experience for our young children (aged 5 and 7); they will visit schools and engage in learning activities for at least one day at each destination.

If you are available for a brief chat or would like more details, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for considering our proposal.

Best regards,

@Aeryld Welcome to the GOSH Forum and thank you so much for sharing this invitation/introduction with the Community.

I also want to thank you for your reply to my message, which helped provide me with a bit more background into your visit and request. I thought I’d share some of that information here so the rest of our community members can also learn a little bit more about your trip and its goals:

Franklin is an innovation consultant working primarily with French public institutions, such as the Caisse des Dépôts and the Fondation de France In France. His two main areas of interest are social innovation and its implementation dynamics at the local level (e.g., fab labs), and digital alternatives to Big Tech/GAFAM (e.g., open-source, off-grid solutions). Beyond his professional work, he also runs an association working to establish a fab lab in the Republic of the Congo.

He is heading off for a year-long trip around the world with his children (!), and reaching out here with two primary goals:

First, he would like to meet community members to discuss their work and how they engage with their local area (e.g., do you manage a lab? Is it a commercial or non-commercial model? What is your relationship with local institutions and authorities?).

Second, and a bit more personal, he’s interested in coordinating educational sessions largely for his children (he may also sit in  ), as they’ll be homeschooled while on the road.

If you’d be interested in meeting with Franklin during his travels or know of an organization that might be a good resource for him, please reach out!

(PS - in the spirit of transparency, I feel compelled to make clear that a lot of the above was paraphrased from @Aeryld 's direct message to me earlier.)
