There are two challenges currently live on experiment.com offering up to $10k (average $4k) for community biology and frugal science projects.

There are peculiarities to this funding and the experiment.com platform (for example, there is usually an expectation you would crowdsource at least some of the funding), so read the pages carefully before deciding if it works for you! Several GOSH members applied to the low cost tools challenge with Shannon Dosemagen and I were leads and there were some mixed expectations and experiences.
