The next GOSH Community Call is happening on September 26 at 20:00 UTC! Join us for a presentation on OreSat, a fully open source, modular, and scalable CubeSat “bus” aimed at interdisciplinary student teams.
Want to know more about the community calls? You can read more about them here . The calls are also available on the GOSH community calendar .
More information on the presentation:
OreSat is a fully open source, modular, and scalable CubeSat “bus” aimed at interdisciplinary student teams. Its well defined card-cage system allows teams, whether they are engineering or science systems, to work independently of each other. OreSat has one open source science instrument, a short wave IR camera used to detect high altitude cirrus clouds. OreSat0, 1 U CubeSat and Oregon’s first satellite, is currently in a sun-synchronous low earth orbit. We’re getting ready for our next mission to fly in February 2023.
IMO the OreSat project is a great example of successful open science hardware from design to manufacturing to deployment (in space!) and growing a community. Even if you are not into space or space technologies, I think there’s something to learn, and I encourage everyone to attend this Community Call!!
Full disclosure: I originally suggested them as a Community Call presenter…
A reminder that we have a GOSH Community Call next week! Join us on 26 September from 20:00-21:00 UTC for a presentation on OreSat, a fully open source, modular, and scalable CubeSat “bus” aimed at interdisciplinary student teams, and a discussion on outputs for GOSH 2022 led by @mariafrangos!
