Second French Plan for Open Science

Dear all,

I would like to share the news of the publication of an important document by the French government, now available in English: the Second French Plan for Open Science is, to the extent of my limited knowledge of the plans in other countries, very innovative in several respects. It includes open-source software as a key ingredient of Open Science. I believe many of the arguments map nicely to the hardware case, so maybe an opportunity there to get it into a hypothetical Third Plan!

There are also very interesting passages about things which have been discussed at length in GOSH, like promoting and teaching Open Science in universities, and having open-source contributions play a role in the system which evaluates and rewards researchers. This is the first time I see them in an official plan by a government!

Cheers,

Javier
