Present at the next Community Call!

Hi everyone,

Each month, GOSH hosts a community call where community members can learn about various Open Science Hardware (OScH) projects and initiatives across the globe! The calls usually consist of two 20-minute presentations on OScH topics followed by discussion, along with some time for introductions/community announcements.

We are looking for presenters for our April Call. The specific date of the Call has not yet been determined - we will work around your schedule! If you are interested in presenting at this or an upcoming Call, reply here or send me a direct message.

I am also happy to answer any general questions you have about the Community Call series! Please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Kind regards,
Jamaica

I don’t have something at the moment (but maybe for a future call?!?), but am excited to see the Community Call coming back in April 2025!

Definitely encourage everyone to consider proposing something.

I can do a presentation on an OpenSource software I started developing . Same presentation I did last month for the Reclone Org.

Cheers,

I’m potentially interested in presenting at a Community Call, depending on date, though I don’t think I’d have enough material for 20 minutes!

Better Hardware, Better Research - I’m very new to hardware, I’ve got a small Fellowship from the Software Sustainability Institute to work on building the case for treating open source hardware in the same way as we treat reproducible research software and open data; some plans for a series of workshops on open source environmental sensing; and some reference points for both traditional and novel sensor work from the environmental research centre where I’m working.

@zool, thanks so much for your interest and willingness! No worries about the material/length - I think the community would likely find your fellowship (both the opportunity and your personal research) super relevant. I’ll reach out to you to talk about days and times that might be good. @adrianMolecule, I’ll circle back with you as well, in the chance that you are still available.

Thanks @zool I’m super curious about your work on Better Hardware, Better Research! For some reason the site you linked to shows black text on a black background and was hard for me to read (I had to Ctrl-A to select all text to read it), so I just wanted to file this “bug report” with you. Is there anywhere else to learn more about your project?

Is there a recording of this April call?

There is! Thank you for your patience as I got it uploaded to YouTube - you can find it here: https://youtu.be/NZzD4tYphl4. It was a fabulous discussion, with many thanks owed to our presenters.

Thanks @jamaica and thanks for hosting the call.

Thanks also to @adrianMolecule and @zool for presenting.

Thank you for the bug report! Likely due to a photophobic combination of dark mode, Dark Reader and clumsy CSS skills

Making sure you're not a bot! - I just finished trying to write up the talk as a blog post for the SSI, who are supporting the project. Hopefully if i leave codeberg handling any styling then it will be readable

I enjoyed the opportunity and want to keep learning from this community
