Open Environmental Data Project (OEDP) is seeking a Civic Science Fellow and Data Inclusion Specialist to co-lead research and resource development on responsible innovation in open environmental data governance systems. The Fellow/Specialist will conduct and synthesize research, design and test prototypes and tools, and organize workshops and other convenings to support data literacy, sharing, and usability in environmental governance spaces. They will collaborate with our team and partners, developing first-hand experience across different scales of governance to co-create resources for researchers, community practitioners, government actors, and technologists working in support of environmental justice. They will work with our team to identify:
- Where existing datasets should and can to be translated into more us
- The processes, decision-making principles, and tools that can better support data’s application in environmental justice and governance; and
- Actionable opportunities for systems redesign.
The Fellow will also be part of a cohort of fellows supported by the Rita Allen Foundation and positioned across different scientific associations, organizations, and institutions. This cohort will provide a peer learning group focused on scientific and societal challenges. After the Fellowship ends, we expect the Specialist to continue working with OEDP in a full-time capacity.
