Agenda

  • Review updated GOSH governance proposal, address outstanding issues
    • Discussed eligibility to vote, want to assess criteria with the community before defining “active participation”
      • This will be vetted on Community Call.
    • Elections will include a voter registration mechanism
      • All those wanting to vote or run will need to register
      • Include checkboxes for verifying participation (Gathering, forums, etc)
      • Registrations will be renewed annually
    • Nominations and candidacy
      • Options for pre-election activities for candidates such as mini-bios and/or letters of intention, community calls for candidates to share their priorities and views were discussed, but no final decisions were made.
      • 3 weeks allocated for campaigning after nominations close
    • Vote casting
      • Need to determine logistical details so that no one is able to vote more than once
      • Voting process details to be determined at community call
        • This includes technology and administration
    • Election Quorum
      • Various possibilities for quorum were discussed, but no final decision was made.
  • Updated proposed timeline to elections
    • 18 February 2021 (at latest) - Post proposal doc to community
    • 25 Feb 2021 - Community Call #2 for feedback on process
    • 12 March - Finalize election process, technology, managing and communicating results
    • 26 March - Election infrastructure (platform, etc)
    • 29 March - Open voter registration
    • 12 April - Voter registration closes
    • 13 April- Open nominations
    • 27 April - Close nominations, open consideration of candidates
    • 17 May - Voting starts
    • 24 May - Voting closes
    • 25 May - Community Council announced
  • Schedule next community call
    • February 25th 14:00 - 15:30 UTC via Zoom
    • Bri and Gunner are working on an outreach campaign during Feb to increase attendance.

  • Finalize proposal document so that it can be shared with the community by February 18th
  • Discuss Community Call Format
  • Research election processes from other open communities
