The Free Appropriate Sustainability Technology (FAST) Research Group develops and uses open source 3D printers for making scientific tools, solar power and frugal biomedical devices. I will have multiple fully-funded positions for 4 years starting in the Spring of 2026. If you have deep RepRap experience and a commitment to open hardware I want you on my team. We are particularly interested if you have SLA experience but all RepRap user/developers will be useful. We have three types of opportunities - all of which require that you move to London, Ontario.
- Research engineer/scientists position. In both of these cases you would be hired as a University employee at Western University (a top 1% global University). For these positions I am looking for makers - that have solid demonstrated experience making open hardware projects, especially focused on 3D printing. Salary competitive with entry-level engineering salary in Canada.
- Fully-funded PhD lines - if you have a BS or MS degree in any STEM discipline and want to continue your academic career while working in this area - please apply (need to be top 10% in grades/GREs). Funds include full tuition and 2x base living stipend.
- Post Doc for two years guaranteed - and could be extended. Our group publishes aggressively so this would be particularly good for someone that needs a lot of publications to continue in an academic career.
