Meet the 2026-2027 GOSH Ambassadors!
Hey all! I am delighted to report that we have GOSH Ambassadors again!
The Ambassador Program Working Group received a tremendous response to this year’s call for applications, drawing proposals from people doing excellent work around the world. Narrowing the field was no easy task, however we are super excited to introduce the five members of the 2026–2027 GOSH Ambassador cohort:
Adrian Filips - Canada
@Adrian is an open hardware developer and organizer of Ottawa Bio Science, where he combines open hardware engineering, molecular biology, and public science education. During his Ambassadorship, he plans to expand Ottawa Bio Science’s monthly outreach through public biology workshops, open hardware demonstrations, phage discovery activities, and citizen science projects.
Alejandra Hidalgo de Camba - Panama
@AlejandraHidalgo is Director of Research at Universidad UNIDOS, where her work focuses on open science, research policy, and academic capacity building. Her Ambassador project will introduce open hardware more directly into Panama’s open science ecosystem through workshops, webinars, and a roundtable for researchers and academic leaders.
Ebuka Ezeike - Nigeria
@Ebuka works with AfricArXiv and TCC Africa on open science, research communication, and community engagement, and has been active in both GOSH and AfricaOSH for several years. During his Ambassadorship, he plans to organize a hands-on open science hardware workshop for undergraduate students at Kaduna State University, introducing students to Arduino through practical projects.
Marcel Bentancor - Uruguay
@Marcel_Bentancor is a plant molecular biologist and lecturer at the Universidad de la República who develops and teaches with open scientific instrumentation. He plans to establish a GOSH node in Uruguay, centered around an open science hardware symposium at the 2027 meeting of the Sociedad Uruguaya de Biociencias.
Samuel Boadu Duah - Ghana
@Samuel is the Volunteer Media and Communications Lead for Makerspaces Africa and a longtime advocate for open science hardware and makerspaces across the continent. As an Ambassador, he plans to organize a series of virtual community conversations, represent GOSH at the Africa Makerspace Ecosystem Gathering, and connect more African makerspaces, researchers, universities, and innovators with the wider GOSH community.
The Ambassadors begin their terms this month and will continue their work through June 2027. Throughout their term, we look forward to hearing occasional report-backs here on the Forum about what they are doing and learning. At the end of the term, we’ll also hold a community showcase where the Ambassadors can share their work with the wider GOSH community.
