I hope this is not too late. The constitution is silent on the roles of the recently advertised GOSH ambassadors and where they sit in the structure of GOSH. It will be good to capture their roles and their relevance in the scheme of affairs.
Hi Samuel, thank you for writing! The Ambassadors program looks to be a wonderful program. It is, however a program, and programmatic activities are not mentioned in a Constitution. Happy to hear more from you on this or any other topic.
This may be late, but I wanted to chime in with my thoughts to extend this conversation. When running for this year’s GOSH election, I was not expecting a situation where only two candidates ran. I like @hpy’s current text for the size of the community council. Questions that I am thinking of, depending on the eventual avenue taken:
- How long would a temporary council member selected from the community serve?
- When would a new Community Council election take place?
I do hope in the future that the Community Council election resembles the 2023 Election, which I also ran in. This year’s decline in candidates running, especially given that it will not satisfy the number of available seats, poses the concern @julianstirling raised, and that it will leave us with an even (not odd) number of members. For future elections, I think it is incumbent upon all of us (including viewing but non-contributing members of the forums) to look into our own networks for potential candidates.
Wonderful to read your post @SynBio101 .
As it reads now, the temporary appointments would run until the next annual election. What do you think about that?
Thank you @SynBio101, @Samuel, and @Karl for the additional comments which @lizbarry addressed.
I appreciate that while the text of this Constitution is not perfect, we have a rare opportunity to formalise a living document to build upon going forward.
Those of you who have registered should have been emailed your ballots from @briannaljohns, so…
Please VOTE in this referendum!!!
Regardless of outcome, I want to express my deep and heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the process - acknowledged in this thread and others - with a special shout-out to @lizbarry for contributing so much time and expertise bringing us to where we are!
