Deadline, March 12th: HELP SOLVE AN SDG CHALLENGE ONLINE, THEN TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL IN GENEVA, BEIJING, SHENZHEN OR SINGAPORE

Hi everyone,

Passing on the below message from the Open Seventeen team. Note that this is a timely call for participating-- the deadline is MARCH 12th (Monday). Read on for more info…

The Open Seventeen Challenge (O17) is an online student challenge for the 17 SDGs (UN Sustainable Development Goals).

Take part in the O17 and you could be invited to join a two-month SDG Summer School in July and August developing a project for the UN in Geneva and China, or to participate in UNLEASH 2018 the first week of June in SIngapore.

This year, the O17 is about SDG #3: “Healthy Lives and Well-Being for All at All ages”, in particular mobile-health solutions for non-communicable diseases.

In collaboration with the UN initiative Be Healthy Be Mobile, run by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), O17 proposes six challenges where crowdsourcing data with mobile apps can make a difference.

The O17 is open to students at Bachelors or Masters level.

How does it work?

  1. Check out the O17 challenges and pitch your idea (you can apply as a team or individually)

  2. 50 students will be selected for online coaching of their ideas between 19 March and 30 April.

  3. Some of the most compelling ideas will be selected to participate in the SDG Summer School (8 weeks, 2 July - 25 August 2018) in Geneva, Beijing and Shenzhen, or to take part in the UNLEASH 2018 ideation and collaboration week in Singapore May 30 – June 6. All travel costs covered.

Deadline for O17 registration is 12 March. Online coaching starts week of 19 March.
