Article on 3D printing and IP law in WIPO Magazine

Hi All

This might be of interest to some of you, it gives a general overview:

No mention of open licensing of course, but good background reading.

Hi Jenny…I love 3 printing but this article is boringly old. We already had these discussions back in 2012 see the awesome http://fffff.at/free-universal-construction-kit/ Maybe its the jetlag but why is WIPO publishing this now !?
I suggest reading Michael weinbergs article instead:

One from 2013 that I feel is not circulated enough is this article from Eli Greenbaum that gives a very good overview of emerging hardware licenses and their problems and proposes a new license for digital fabrication (a modified Apache license). This license allows creators to ensure a mark is kept in their design files when shared and modified so that attribution is embedded into the hardware or “clones” are more easily identifiable.
