Dear Community,
We’re delighted by the incredible response to our travel scholarship applications; the depth and diversity of candidates is a reminder of what makes our community so unique.
Thanks to the Open Science Hardware Foundation, all core logistics for the Kathmandu Gathering are fully funded. What remains is USD 20,000 for travel scholarships, the difference between many of those applicants attending or not.
We’re pursuing external sponsorships, but we’re also turning to the people who know this community best: you.
We completely understand that everyone is in a different financial situation, and there is no expectation whatsoever. This is simply an open invitation for those who can contribute.
If you’d like to support, here are three ways:
-
Contribute, any amount helps. We suggest USD 60–250, but give what feels right. You can donate at registration or via our Donate page.
2. Spread the word. Share the appeal in your networks, local hackerspaces, or with aligned organisations.
3. Share a lead. Know a foundation or funder whose priorities align with OSH? Drop their details below or email us at gathering@openhardware.science. We’ll take it from there.
Thank you for reading this, for whatever you’re able to offer, and for being part of this community. We can’t wait to see you in Kathmandu.
Warm regards,
Karl and Ebuka
