That’s right, yes, we did always have some extras in each batch. We would program and test before shipping and help with support afterwards such as troubleshooting. We had a good mark-up on the instruments but it still worked out more affordable and easier for the labs than making or sourcing it themselves. It was a great model. We didn’t really have storage costs as pretty much everything would get turned around in a few weeks.

Thank you for mentioning about distributors and shipping/import costs. This is a barrier for sure. Just this week I answered two emails from potential customers in Germany and Spain who wanted to know if we had a distributor for these reasons. It’s something we are very interested in pursuing through Open Science Shop if possible. We are also interested in the reverse, so if there are projects in EU for example that need a manufacturer or distributor in the US.
